Introducing Workology - Workology

Introducing Workology - Workology Celebrating Change and Introducing Workology Starting December 16, 2016, you might notice something different around here. Blogging4Jobs is now Workology. Celebrating Change and Introducing Workology Blogging4Jobs has been in existence since 2005. Originally created by me as a resource for job seekers, I created and aptly named the site one late Friday evening not really considering how this blog might impact my career, my job and change my life. I was focused on experimentation which turned out to be a very good gamble if I dont say so myself. Im am glad it happened the way it did. I wish I had dreamed bigger when this blog began, I eventually did and it became something that has forever changed me. Ive been dragging my feet for the last 24 months knowing the reality that Blogging4Jobs needed to evolve and grow but not yet ready for what that really would mean. The content on these blogs and the professionals who write the resources as well as those of you who read them, frankly deserve more. I finally bit the bullet after a few starts and stops and decided to give this blog a much needed update and facelift. Blogging4Jobs is now Workology. Its time to keep dreaming big. The new Workology site brings together four different blogs I have built, nurtured and acquired over the course of the last nearly 12 years. Its been twelve freaking, amazing and ridiculous years. The rebrand has been a big project merging 4 different blogs and websites into a single place. The site now boasts more than 7,000 blogs and article resources focused on a companys most valuable asset, the employee. Whether its hiring, engaging, training, developing or exiting those employees, this is the heart of the resources and community that Workology provides. In the coming weeks my new LMS will be in house and fully integrated within the site as well. I have a few other surprises up my sleeve but for now I still have plenty of work left ahead. Look for another announcement once phase two is activated. Workology is about the art and science of the workplace, HR and recruitment. Over the next few months you will see more resources in different forms. Ill be continuing the Workology Podcast, experimenting more with video and adding some and exclusive resources focused on the HR and talent acquisition leader. Ill be focused on case studies, research and information that gets more to the heart of providing you solutions and support for your business goals and opportunities. I want you to be successful in your professional endeavors which is why Im committed to providing resources and information that is focused solely on the practitioner and how I can help transform your office, department, business and team. The site Blogging4Jobs and now Workology wouldnt be possible without the amazing contributions of professionals from all across our industry. Thank you to the hundreds of friends, peers, and colleagues who have written and shared their time and ideas. I appreciate your friendship as well as your mentorship. Thank you. Workology Promises To Provide real resources and information you can actually use Never sell your information to vendors or providers Commit to connecting you to great products, services and technologies but only on your terms Celebrate the corporate HR and talent acquisition practitioner Advance the profession through meaningful resources, support and information Remain vendor and provider agnostic as possible Most importantly, I want real conversations that provide solutions and resources not just some marketing fluff or white paper piece that was created solely for the purposes of lead generation. I believe that we as HR, recruiting and talent acquisition leaders are more than just sales prospects and contacts for the purposes of selling, demoing and driving revenue to supplementary products and services. I do believe those services and technologies are important to ensure our continued individual, business and industry success. I am focused on providing value and sharing best practices highlighting the best in breed technologies and services that support the communitys goals. This is what Workology is all about. I look forward to 7,000 more articles and 12 more years (maybe more) and would love if you shared with me what you really want from a resource like this. You can call me at (405) 293-2564, email at jessica(at) blogging4jobs(dot)com or fill out my reader survey to tell me what you need. Introducing Workology - Workology Introducing Workology Ive been giving a lot to ocial media and  technology  and their place in the role of the workplace.  Its no longer enough to discuss social media recruiting strategies or blogging for the sake of a blog.  Ninety-one percent of recruiters are using social media and the number companies who have social media policies at their companies is on the rise.  For the record, Im excited that the change is happening and the SHRM Conference is helping to do that in a big way.  With the SHRM Hive and Bloggers Lounge, Im proud of the way that the worlds largest HR professional association is helping to drive the conversation when it comes to corporate social media.  There are different channels and mediums in which to generate these conversations on social media with both your employees either internally or externally, candidates, and even sometimes customers if you operate under a B to C model. Introducing Workology So today, Im officially unveiling a new concept during my Tuesday Concurrent Session at the 2012 SHRM Annual Conference, that will guide my keynote speeches, research, and conversations both on and off this blog over the next two to three years.  The concept is called workology. Workology is the intersection between social media, technology, mobile, and culture at work.  Workology will work for candidates as well as employees providing a one-stop shop for today’s high-tech workforce.  With links into Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, Workology will create a wow workplace that drives results and delivers engagement for everyone no matter where you are or where you work.  Especially since that too is changing 77% of companies surveyed by the Families and Work Institute are offering flexible work schedules to their general employee populations Employee social media and other workplace engagement technologies could help save US companies $370 billion this year. Through increased retention and channels to develop relationships, employees can communicate more effectively through social media as well as being engaged contributes to productivity.  And workology will go beyond the generation and workplace stereotyping and teach how passion, person and personality align the workplace with technology on multifaceted levels. It’s where social media, mobile, and technology are used at your office to create a culture and employment brand that captivate your employees’ driving passion and captures your candidates’ attention. Interested in learning more about Workology and how it is changing the face of HR, candidate engagement, and employee engagement?  Look for more articles coming soon or better yet check out my SHRM session at 10:45 AM titled How Social Media Changes HR.  Id love to see you there.
